The One Piece: Red theatrical anime movie is set to get two important prologue
That set up the next topplaywriting adventure. One Piece has finally returned to the big screen, with the premiere of the One Piece: Red film yesterday, August 6th, in Japan. Whilst fans of the series can indeed walk in and understand what’s going on; the more backstory we can get on the movie, the better.
Some good news is that the movie is set to get two special episodes over the next two weeks that tie-in to the film – here is everything we know about One Piece: Red’s prologue ahead of its UK and US release this Fall.
ONE PIECE: RED TO HAVE TWO PROLOGUE EPISODES
This week, it was announced that the upcoming One Piece: Red theatrical anime movie would be receiving two tie-in episodes that act as a prologue to the upcoming feature film. As confirmed by the official One Piece Japanese website, the two special episodes will be broadcast for domestic audiences on Sunday, August 14th and Sunday, August 21st. The two tie-in prologues will be “interlocking episodes [that] will depict the story more than 10 years before the movie.” Crunchyroll has yet to reveal if the episodes will be made available to stream internationally alongside the main anime series on the aforementioned dates.
WHEN WILL ONE PIECE: RED RELEASE WORLDWIDE?
The One Piece: Red movie premiered in theatres across Japan on Saturday, August 6th. The early reviews from fans and critics are generally positive for the movie, which is reported to have made 1.06 billion Yen on its opening day – making it the third highest-grossing first day behind the likes of Demon Slayer: Mugen Train and Jujutsu Kaisen 0. One Piece: Red will open next in French cinemas, scheduled for August 10th under the Pathe Films banner, with Taiwan’s premiere set for August 19th. Unfortunately, whilst Crunchyroll has confirmed that they will be bringing the movie to US and UK theatres, a specific release date has not been shared – the film is still slated to release this Fall. President and CEO of Toei Animation Masayuki Endo, told Collider that they were “excited to bring One Piece Film Red to theatres around the world this fall, which actually coincides with the 23rd anniversary of the One Piece franchise.”
